CLUTCH
*Clutch is a mechanism used to connect or disconnect the engine from the rest of transmission elements. It is located between engine and the gearbox.
*During normal running and stantionary position, it is always in engaged condition.
*The clutch is disengaged for starting, changing gears, stopping and idling.
*When the clutch is engaged,the engine is connected to the transmission and the power flows from the engine to the rear wheel through transmission system.
Functions of Clutch
1.To permit engagement (or) disengagement of a gear when the vehicle is stationary and the engine is running.
2.To transmit the engine power to the rear wheels smoothly without shocks to the transmission system when the vehicle in motion.
3.To permit the engaging of the gears when the vehicle is in motion without damaging the gear wheels.
