FLUID MECHANICS
Fluid Mechanics is the study of fluids and the forces on them fluid includes liquid, gases and plasmas. Fluid Mechanics is divided into fluid statics, fluid kinematics and fluid dynamics.

1.Fluid Statics - The study of fluid at rest.
2.Fluid kinematics - The study of fluids in motion without consideration of force/torque
3.Fluid Dynamics - The study of fluid in motion with application of force/torque.
SOLID
Its molecules are very closely spaced. Intermolecular cohesive force is high between its molecules. Solid undergo static deformation.
FLUID
The space between fluid molecules is relatively large. The intermolecular force is low. Fluid undergoes continuous deformation.
MECHANICS
*Mechanics is dealing with motion (or) rest of particles/body with application (or) without application of force. It is mainly based on Newton's laws & continuum theorem.
*Fluid Mechanics is study of fluids either in motion (Fluid Dynamics) or at rest (Fluid Static) with (or) without application of force.
HYDRAULICS
*It is the branch of Engineering-science which deals with water at rest (or) in motion.
*It is the branch of Engineering-science which is based on experimental observation of water flow.
CLASSIFICATION OF LIQUID
A fluid may be classified as follows:
1)PART-A
i)Liquid
ii)Gas
iii)Vapour
2)PART-B
i)Ideal fluids
ii)Real fluids
