GEAR TRAIN

*When two (or) more gears are made to mesh with each other to transmit power from one shaft to another, the combination is called "Gear Train".

*Gears trains are used to speed up (or) stepped down the speed of driven shaft.

1. Simple Gear Train

In this gear train, each shaft carries one wheel only and there is no relative motion between, the axis of the shaft.

2. Compound Gear Train

When there are more than one gears on a shaft then it is known as "Compound Gear Train".

3. Reverted Gear Train

*When the axis of driven gear is coaxial with driving gear, then it is called reverted gear train.

*Driven and driving gears are not mounted on the same shaft.
