POWER PLANT
*A complex of structures, machinery, and associated equipment for generating electric energy from another source of energy, such as nuclear reactions or a hydroelectric dam. Also called powerhouse, power station.
1.BOILERS
*A boiler is a closed vessel in which the steam is generated from water by applying heat. The heated (or) vaporized fluids exists the boiler for use in various processes (or) heating applications.
*A boiler includes a firebox (or) furnace to burnt the fuel and generate the heat. The generated heat is transferred to water to make steam.
*The boilers are mainly used in mobile steam engines such as locomotives, portable engines, industrial installations and power stations.
2.PULVERISER
*A pulveriser (or) grinder is a mechanical device for grinding many different types materials. Pulveriser mill is used to pulverize the coal for combustion in the steam-generating furnaces (or) fossil fuel power plant.
3. CONDENSER
*Condenser is a closed vessel in which steam is condensed by abstracting the heat and where the pressure is maintained below atmospheric pressure.
4. DRAUGHT SYSTEM
*Large amount of air is needed for the effective combustion of fuel. The purposed of draught is to supply the required quantity of air for combustion and remove the burnt products from the system.
5. COOLING TOWERS
*In cooling towers the warm water discharged from the condenser is fed into the cooling tower and the cooled water from the cooling tower is fed back to the condenser.
1. Wet type
2. Dry type
6. DUST COLLECTOR
*A dust collector is a system used to enhance the quality of air released from industrial and commercial processes by collecting dust and other impurities from air (or) gas.
*It is distinguished from air cleaners, which use disposable filters to remove dust.
